Our Services

The Academy's building was carefully designed and created by the owners and director.  The building houses ten classrooms each equipped with a computer, various learning centers, and developmentally appropriate surroundings.  Each classroom has an exterior door to which the children can access an outdoor play area that is age-specific.  The Academy also has a cafeteria.  The cafeteria is not only used to feed the children meals but can be used for an indoor play area on days with inclement weather or used as a large activity room for special learning.

With the director's background in education, your child's learning experience at The Academy is top priority.  In the daily routine there is a balance between outdoor vigorous play and indoor quiet play, between teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities, between state-approved curriculum and enrichment activities.  Included in your child's tuition will be special programs that include art, music, second language, sign language and creative movement.

The Academy serves children from Infants to Pre-K and offers an after-school program for school-age children. We are able to transport children from local elementary schools for aftercare services. During school holidays and summer months, we offer a full-day program for the students in elementary school. Our classroom ratios are lower than Georgia state requirements and we strive to always meet or exceed the standards set forth by our licensing agency, Bright From The Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. We also adhere to strict standards in cleanliness in each classroom and on our playgrounds.

Infants: Staff/Child Ratio 1:5                    State Staff/Child Ratio 1:6

Our Infant program is divided into two separate classrooms. Both classes focus on creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for each child. The cleanliness of each classroom is of great importance, so teachers and visitors are encouraged to wear booties provided by the center when entering these classrooms.

Our Infant A classroom is specifically designed for children ages 6 weeks to 6 months or crawling.  This classroom is equipped with all the essential learning tools and growth apparatuses to help your child reach their first of many developmental milestones. The teachers in this classroom enjoy reading to the infants, doing art activities with them, and letting them explore the building via the bye bye buggy. But most importantly, the teachers love each child for his/her own special characteristics.

We know that developmental milestones for children do not always occur at the same age for every child, so we do not limit a child to this classroom at 6 months of age. In order to advance to the next classroom, infants must be able to sit up on their own, crawl, begin to pull up on his/her own, and must be eating baby food and some table food.

Our Infant B classroom is intended for children ages 6 months through 12 months or older. The babies in this class have reached the following developmental milestones: crawling, pulling up at their own will, eating table food, and are able to sit up without assistance. In this classroom, teachers ensure your infant's development by encouraging language acquisition, social interaction, and sound physical growth.  Children are encouraged to express themselves through everyday play, sign language, music, and dance, and art.

In each Infant classroom, teachers provide a daily report regarding the activities for your child including your child's eating, sleeping, and diaper schedule as well as activities and other special moments of the day.

Toddler   Staff/Child Ratio 1:6                  State Staff/Child Ratio 1:8

Our toddler program focuses on children ages twelve to twenty-four months of age. We have a younger toddler and an older toddler program; both of which focus on creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for each child.  Your toddler will feel secure and loved while growing in self confidence and accomplishing the developmental goals of this age group. Our indoor and outdoor areas are designed specifically to allow the children to explore and play together as they begin their understanding of socially-appropriate behaviors. There is also individual time to focus on fine motor skills and specific areas of interest of each child.

We focus on colors, sounds, smells, shapes, and textures that help support the exploration of the world around them. We stimulate language and communication by reading to the children, teaching them songs, and by encouraging the children to use their sign language and their vocabulary to ask for things. Teachers are provided with themes and then are encouraged to development age-appropriate lesson plans for their class. Teachers incorporate our Creative Curriculum into their daily schedule and lesson plans.

At the end of each day, parents receive daily reports of the events that took place during their child's day. The report will detail what your child ate for each meal, how your child rested, diaper changing schedule, overall temperament of your child, and any other necessary information that is important for the parents to know.

2 years old    Staff/Child Ratio 1:8              State Staff/Child Ratio 1:10

Our two year old program focuses on expanding the child's self-confidence and promotes independence and progressed communication. In addition to the children continuing to expand on their daily language and open communication, children are also encouraged to explore the world around them. Teachers concentrate on getting the children potty-trained and potty training is viewed as an important and fun part of the daily routine.

As your child develops their personality, your child will be taught to work individually as well as work in a group on projects or in group play time. An important developmental milestone for children this age is learning to play with others and be able to communicate likes, dislikes, wants, and needs. Children's creativity and imagination will be stimulated by art activities, music, and dramatic play. Concentrating on fine motor skills with children this age is also important. Some of the ways we teach fine motor skills is by working with the children on coloring, cutting, and drawing.

Beginning at age two, children are eligible to participate in our extra-curricular activities. Currently we offer the Bus Fair and Playball, but we hope to expand on these services.

3 years old    Staff/Child Ratio 1:10            State Staff/Child Ratio 1:15

The three year old program continues to build on the fundamentals taught in the two year old program. What sets the threes apart from the twos more than anything is their newfound ability to express themselves in words and ideas. We continue to focus on providing a loving and nurturing environment for the children and ensure they feel secure while they have fun learning their new skills. The school day continues to become more structured, while still giving the child the time to explore and learn individually as well as in a group setting.

Children in the three year old program also begin learn word and number tracing, word and number recognition, and shape recognition.

Private Pre-K Staff/Child Ratio 1:15           State Staff/Child Ratio 1:18

In our Private Pre-K program, we serve children who are going to remain in Pre-K due to their age and children who are going to Kindergarten. Though we service the two age ranges of children in this program, the developmental milestones of each are still met .  We encompass a wide variety of planned activities centered on the developmental goals of this age group.

Children who are not age eligible for the Public Pre-K class will master similar skills as those children who will enter Kindergarten. Children of this age should be able to recognize their name, count to 15, recognize some numbers and letters, know shapes and colors, recognize some sight words, follow two step directions, and begin to be able to write their own name.

Children who are age eligible to enter Kindergarten should be able to recognize the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet, recognize the sounds of half of the letters of the alphabet, count to 30, recognize numerals from 0-15, recognize 10-15 sight words, write their first and last name, recite their full name, address, and telephone number, know their birthday, and be able to follow 3 step directions.
